Very similar to the state al ph and pw parameters. This paramter stores the plate
thickness as last measured by the head stage. The value in here is most usually
updated in the final stages of a load when the stage zeroes on media. After the stage
is done, the load sequence checks the value of pt against the workstation provided
thickness and if they are significantly different flags the user.
